We cannot tell the precise moment when friendship is formed. As in filling a vessel drop by drop, there is at last a drop which makes it run over; so in a series of kindnesses there is at last one which makes the heart run over. – Ray Bradbury

My name is Emma Glickman. I am a junior at Ingraham High School here in Seattle. This year I began the International Baccalaureate program at Ingraham and I am enrolled in the Visual Arts portion of that program. I am also participating in a Digital Photography Class at Youth In Focus in South Seattle.
Over the past year I have focused mostly on digital photography, while also experimenting in film photography and other mediums. I love to photograph people and things in a candid state, or while moving. Because of this, most of my images have been taken while walking or in a moving vehicle. I like to capture people in their natural state – when they are not putting on a fake smile to please the camera. As a teenager in Seattle, I am constantly bombarded by different ideas surrounding feminism, bullying, gay rights, etc, and I am currently working on a series that will show my feelings towards different social issues.
I was featured at Avanti Art Gallery in last June’s photography exhibition, and I hope to continue getting my work out into the world! The Greenwood artwalk has created an amazing opportunity for me as an aspiring young artist, and I’m very glad to be able to participate for a second time! Artist present.

Baylie’s heroes are mostly under the age of 7, or are grown-ups who wish they still were. She finds inspiration while walking her dog, while on the yoga mat, and most often when she’s not even looking. Baylie believes in the value of hand-written letters, the power of a smile, and the Golden Rule.” Artist present.
