Abrams Anderson

Artist: James Delbert Anderson
My work consists of digital nature photography with a focus on wildflowers and landscapes.

Abrams Sinclair

Artist: Corinna Sinclair
I work in a variety of media and my favorite is oil, pencil, pastels, and watercolors. I appreciate art in all forms, style, and media. My paintings are somewhat rustic, and each original work has its own unique character. I lean a lot on simplicity and bold color. I see hands on art just as important as art created digitally. Exotic ports of call are captured in oil. Most of my work reflects my imagination, emotion, and my personality.

Windows to Ancient Wisdom -- Bull Elephant

Artist: Jodi Gaylord, City Escapes Nature Photograpy

When you find yourself in a place where the landscape takes your breath away, and there is a fair chance that out of the quiet stillness a moose might come lumbering forth to surprise you, then you are in a place we love to be.

Wildlife delights us. Majestic animals, like the eagle and the bear, instill in us a certain reverence. Cute little animals make us want to cuddle up with the little furballs. And, if we wait patiently enough, all of them can make us laugh. When we picture these amazing creatures, though, we cannot forget another aspect of their appeal: the magnificent landscapes in which they find themselves. The natural world is bursting with an untold number of amazing scenes.

City Escapes Nature Photography sprung out of our wonder and awe at such naturallyartistic images. How could we be privy to such beauty and not want to share our excitement with others? As such, we are pleased to offer for sale limited edition prints of several wildlife and landscape photographs we have been fortunate enough to be in the right place at the right time to take. Like nature itself, some are serene, some comical, and others puzzling — at least at first glance — but all reflect the art that is everywhere around us.

Jodi Gaylord is our Photographer-In-Chief (PIC), as well as our President and CEO. She is the creative talent behind the company, as well as the original inspiration for creating the company. She spends as much time as possible behind her camera, and hopes that the results of her work inspire you to embrace nature.

Artists: Color Drop: Caroline Roosevelt and Abigail Elaine
Caroline Roosevelt and Abigail Elaine mix playful intensity with vibrant, explosive color in this collaborative show. Both artists rely on strong lines and fluidity, shaping the canvas in exploration of the dialogues most central to their lives. For Caroline Roosevelt, these dialogues are based on the interplay of word and form. For Abigail, they revolve around a captivation with the natural world. Both work primarily with watercolor, spinning elements of wonder into each piece. Caroline Roosevelt has been painting since early childhood. Her process is quick and intuitive, often resulting from improvisation. Her pieces suggest humor, incorporating elements of surprise. Caroline’s work is informed by her synesthesia, which offers her an uncommon perspective on the relationship between senses. Abigail Elaine bases her practice on direct experience with nature, seeking to retain the childlike innocence she experiences in relation to her environment. Her newest body of work reflects her personal exploration of Pacific Northwest wildlife, using vivid colors to express the emotion and excitement she feels in the presence of her subjects.Urban Light Studios is also proud to host The Sketch Pistols, one of Seattle’s longest-running creative socialization clubs for local artists, designers, and illustrators who meet up monthly to draw and mingle in a variety of locations in and around the Puget Sound. Come see the work of Tim Suchsland and Mia Yoshihara-Bradshaw at the Phinney Center Gallery in July. The sights and tastes of traveling Central Asia inspire Tim to create his watercolor and sumi ink collages. Mia’s art combines elements of traditional Japanese paper-cutting (kiri-e), silhouettes and mixed-media collage.

Artist: Leslie Ulrich
Leslie’s current series of work is entitled, Patch Worked, which is an exploration and celebration of color and pattern, created from an everyday object. Patch Worked is painted paper, cut and sewn together in interpretive and traditional patterns that hangs and undulates like quilts or blankets. She uses recycled paper bags that she can reuse and paint any color. It is a happy challenge to take an ordinary object and make it into something a little more interesting. It is a contemporary look at the traditional craft of quilt making, “making something out of nothing.”

Leslie will also be participating in Seattle ReCreative’s free Saturday Skill Share program on Saturday, July 11 at 10 am, at which time she will be leading a workshop on Sewing Paper.
