Carvings. Jerry’s love for wildlife began artistically with pencil and ink drawings. He began carving
beautiful detailed Walking Sticks under the name of “Scare D’ Cat. The name was
chosen due to close encounters between hikers and mountain lions. Next he began
experimenting with full body carvings and ended up doing his personal style of Relief
Carvings. His carvings are done totally by hand on different types of wood making each
piece an original work of art. The finishing is subdued and transparent to enhance
without taking away from the detail of these unique life like carvings.

Featured Artists: Kyle Krauskopf, Breia Mallett
Kyle Krauskopf: Just the words “flying bike” evoke a curiosity and whimsy of their own, but add “brewery” and anyone’s interest would be peaked. As an artist and a beer lover, mine was; so much so that I came to imagine an entire world where bikes that fly are commonplace. With all that peddling to propel oneself through the clouds, a mighty thirst would accumulate. And so was born The Flying Bike Aviator, an intrepid adventurer drinking his first pint after a long day whilst sidled up to the brewery in the sky. The Aviator offers everyone a welcoming “cheers” as you enter Washington state’s first cooperative brewery.
Breia Mallett: An avid doodler as long as I can remember, I’ve been creating cute little creatures in the form of greeting cards for the last few years. Most of the work I do is on a small scale; the largest piece I’d painted before this mural was about 5ft by 3ft. When Flying Bike put the call out for mural artists, I thought “Hey, why the heck not!”. I’m glad I did! It was such a fun experience and hopefully it makes folks smile when they see it. The whole idea of Flying Bike was a lofty goal and I wanted to capture that in a whimsical way. If bikes can fly, why can’t fish!? We should all reach for our dreams and soar.

- Urban Light Studios:
Featured Artists: Isobelle Ouzman and Kindra Nikole
Kindra Nikole and Isobelle Ouzman bring the fantastical to life on a regular basis. Lifting the veil of disbelief and separating the viewer from reality, their work explores our relationship with fairy tales by spinning elaborate, otherworldly narratives. Coming together for the first time in this debut show, the two artists transform Urban Light Studios into a surreal visual playground.
Isobelle Ouzman’s work alternates between illustration and paper carving, favoring repurposed materials as a nod to her love of nature. Cutting and etching directly into discarded novels, her pieces capture stories within stories. Isobelle lightheartedly renders her dreams as intimate, personal fairy tales while encouraging the viewer to get lost in what results.
Kindra Nikole is an interdisciplinary artist who photographs meticulously detailed, handcrafted sets drawn from her imagination. Kindra’s conceptual work depicts the natural world as intrinsically magical, her ideas stemming from a deep inner respect and adoration of the planet.

Artist: Peter Howland
Peter Howland’s love for photography was birthed around the same time
as his two daughters. And like his children, he was elated when photos
turned out well, but never quite understood why? A loving wife gave him a
‘photo adventure’ to Vietnam as a birthday present and while in Hanoi, the
‘aha’ moment occurred. Peter has been shooting ever since.
Specializing in documentary portraiture and event photography, Peter has
seen his photos grace Time Square on a few occasions while winning
Kodak’s Photo of the Day, as well as being published in various tech
magazines and the Huffington Post.
Ballard (Seattle) is home that Peter shares with his wife, Heidi, and the
above-mentioned two wonderful (most of the time) daughters, Helena and
Evie…his muses and ever-faithful photo subjects. And also Blue, their
gigantic Golden Retriever.
