Presenting Luminiferous
My work stems from a long running affinity for botany which, when I decided to follow my passion for photography, opened a whole new world of possibilities. I call them mandalas because each one is a microcosm of our dear Mama Earth and the land I forage from.
The diversity around us is fascinating and I’m in a full immersion course. I feel compelled to forage, dissect, and research all the plants I uncover. I create small studies with the vast array of flora by my home in the Pacific Northwest.
I capture my wild-crafted finds by natural light, spending hours making and photographing them. It brings me a joy I have never experienced. The flowers, seeds, nuts and leaves seem to speak as I arrange them. Time takes on new meaning due to the short shelf life of the plants.
These nature studies help me reflect on the perfectly imperfect beauty of an impermanent life. They keep me present.

Featured Artist: Jennifer Quick
My name is Jennifer Quick and I am a 28 year old Northwest native, born and raised in Lynnwood, Washington. After avoiding pursuing the obvious throughout my college years, I am now a self-taught artist/muralist, working primarily with acrylic on canvas. I have never been able to define my painting style, and find it quite entertaining that others struggle to do so as well, but I like it that way because it is actually very fitting of my personality. My inspiration tends to come from my world travels, the PNW, and just bringing to life the amusing little thoughts and images that come to mind on a daily basis. Every piece of artwork is created by hand; I do not make any prints. I like to know that those who invest in my paintings can take pride in knowing that they own a truly original
piece of artwork.

Featured Artist: David Eggehorm
Currently I am a Ballard High School student and paint whenever I can. I enjoy all types of art from the pencil drawings I did when I was younger to Aerosolgrafia (spray paint art), Acrylic on Canvas and Oil on Canvas. My most recent being Oil on Canvas. Over the last year, I have been looking into the field of digital concept art. I find that trying different art styles is enjoyable and has contributed to my growth as an artist.
I paint because it makes me happy, and if I can make others happy in the process then I know I’m doing the right thing. When I paint, I am always looking for new ways to express my ideas and get the viewer engaged as much as possible. My goal as an artist is to become the best I can be and use my God given talent to bless others.

In any given landscape there are moments, which tell a story about a place and the people that dwell there. In a metropolis or a ghost town these moments of loneliness and abandonment that can be looked over or forgotten. It is in these spaces that there is an opportunity to see and understand the world in a different way. By exploring, collecting and photographing the world as an archaeologist or detective gives intensity to the seemingly banal and ordinary.
The absence of the human figure in the work provides a space for the viewer to project themselves into the desolate and abandoned environments that are captured. By pairing photographs of these deserted and abandoned environments with found personal items it provides fertile ground for narratives to emerge. The items collected are items one might find in a family album or desk drawer and provides a strong connection to the missing figure.
The types of spaces that are captured range greatly from the haunted skeletal frame of a failed dream house to a forgotten city by a man made sea that has a vibrant past. The ghostly representation of the locations exposes moments of quietness, sadness, and abandonment. In some cases these places are desolate due to a tragedy or economic downturn and the images and collected items speak to the way in which it happened.
It is the universality of loss that allows the viewer to find the beauty in these abandoned spaces and objects. With the hope that it enlightens them to see how sublime life is and how connected we are to each other.
