From a young age motivation to travel with a skateboard took Eric from one town to the next, to big cities and eventually across the globe and back.  Picking up a camera to document the adventure was a natural progression.  Today Eric shoots travel photography, features in skateboard magazines, look books for clothing brands and product photography.

Fabric of the Night Sky: Illustrations by Julia Y

Astrology is humanity’s search for our own reflections in the night sky. Each viewer projects an image of themselves on to the stars, and the stars reflect back powerful avatars.

The constellations and myths of the twelve zodiac signs have been observed for thousands of years across multiple continents. From classical mythology to Renaissance art to daily horoscopes, each era has its own way of keeping alive the stories that are woven into our collective consciousness.

This series is my visual retelling of the zodiac signs, based on my own interpretations of the myths and shapes of the constellations. I have combined my own sense of color, gesture, and unique mixed-media process to create a new incarnation of these ancient symbols. Each piece starts with a gestural drawing which is then printed on fabric, collaged to a background, painted and finally embroidered with an overlay of its constellation.

I believe the secret to living a meaningful life is to spend it finding
out what makes us the most happy, and then to serve that gift to the
world. I’ve learned firsthand that using my giftings and highest strengths
in the service of something larger than myself has brought a level of
satisfaction and impact that has revolutionized the intention behind my
pursuit of the arts. I have had the privilege of being involved with
numerous community related art ventures that have given me the opportunity
to experience the beauty of using art as a language and a tool to inspire
people and bring positive change.

My goal is the same as nearly every other serious artist: To create works
of art that carry such deep meaning that they move people into deeper
revelations of reality. I believe there is one constant truth that
everything and everyone in existence is searching for. My search for this
truth is the source of my inspiration and the purpose of my dedication.

Andrew Lamb Schultz’s background in art for children is immediately apparent in their work’s bright colors and “simple” lines.  Through this gentle, rose-colored lens, their sophisticated subject matter is uniquely striking. Funny, dark, frequently political, your first Schultz experience is like a late night dive bar heart-to-heart with the Kool-Aid man. Schultz will create a limited-edition print available only at Greenwood Space Travel Supply. ART! WINE! SEATTLE’S ONLY FUNCTIONAL TELEPORTER! Come celebrate Andrew Lamb Schultz and GSTS’s first visual art show since the big gas explosion.

Little Amy Liz lived in Illinois for 28 years; from the not so bad parts of Chicago to the sprawling cornfields of Dekalb and everywhere in between. She has always had a problem with authority and tradition. In her freshmen year of high school she was kicked out of art class and not allowed to study art any further. She spent a decade dropping in out of various schools and changing majors half a dozen times. In 2013 she finally earned an associate’s degree in graphic design. She discovered she hates typography. Her entry level design job was outsourced to someone in China. She packed up her cats and moved to Seattle. After a year or so she decided to paint whatever she felt like painting.

The viewer will find flaws in her composition and they might be intentional. There is also symbolism in the colors and shapes, those might be accidental. She believes the narrative of the artwork is up to the viewer. It is not her job to tell you what to think. She offers secret messages in her painting and meaning where there really isn’t any to be found. The square and the circle could represent the inequality of genders or it could just be a square and a circle. It’s her secret and your story.

Greenwood Rising – A show celebrating the art and community of Greenwood after the March 2016 explosion, presented by the PNA and Urban Hands. Days after a gas explosion damaged dozens of businesses in the heart of Greenwood, street artists organized by Greenwood nonprofit Urban Hands converged on the neighborhood to paint colorful plywood murals over blown-out windows and doors.

The murals slowly left the neighborhood as storefronts were repaired, but professional photographer Chuck Johnson has given the art new life by combining photos of the murals with mixed digital art to enhance, alter, and bring to life different components of the images. Greenwood Rising will showcase these uniquely community-based art pieces. The original pieces are not for sale but prints of most of the art pieces will be available for purchase.

Opening Reception: Friday, March 10, 7-9 pm.
Meet many of the artists and celebrate the community at the Opening Reception, which will take place one year after the Greenwood explosion.

Artist will be present.

Seattle Artist League: 9039 Greenwood Ave N

Featured artists: League Artists Show

The Seattle Artist League was founded by a student and a teacher with the belief that art is a benefit to everyone. At the League we have facilitated a thriving community of artistically active people.

Some are professional artists, some have been making work for years but never showed, others are just getting started. We celebrate them all.

Last August the Seattle Artist League took residence in a big orange building on Greenwood Ave. Now it’s time for us to move on to our new location, but before we do, we want to celebrate with you. Join us for our first show of work by past and present students and teachers. We have art, and we have beer!

Teresa Getty works in layers, creating an archeology of experience, weaving time and memory. Process informs content. Sanding, pulling things out of the work, or pouring over them acts on the idea of impermanence, allowing for unexpected evolution. Instances of significant imagery remain, acting as anchors for the viewer. Other personal references are almost entirely obscured, existing only as bits of information. Thus, the work becomes an opened visual diary expressed in the language of line and form with the dynamic of color as key.

Teresa Getty received her BFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and her MFA from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Her work has been exhibited widely throughout the US.
