Beth Goodman is a Seattle artist who loves the outdoors as much as she enjoys painting. Featured Artist: Linda Brooks
Linda Brooks is a portrait photographer and educator based in Seattle. In her years as a professional portrait photographer, she has witnessed that families often have professional portraiture done of their children when they are babies and toddlers and then not again until they are graduating from high school or getting married! And, in her decades working as an educator, she has recognized that the tween years are a time of big transitions and a time when self-esteem can be vulnerable. What if we put more emphasis on celebrating this time? What if we took an opportunity to reflect back to girls how strong, talented, and courageous they are! Imagine how this could positively impact girls as they head into their adolescent years. This is how The Empower Project was born!
The goal of The Empower Project is to capture the personality and strength of tweens and reflect back to them how talented, smart, gifted, and loved they are simply for being themselves! Linda wants to help tweens solidify their self-confidence, realize their true beauty and value, and to encourage them to lead empowered lives!

Jenna makes utilitarian pottery with much of her focus on surfaces inspired from childhood and the constant stream of blooms found throughout the Pacific Northwest. Covering the vessel with a bright cheerful color, she then carves gently through that layer revealing the white clay beneath in a technique called sgraffito. In an unpredictable, fast-paced national climate that can sometimes feel isolating, Brigida’s artworks provide a sense of breathing room by giving voice to what remains constant and true: that there’s magic in nature, there’s empathy to be found in connection, and there’s harmony in the community people build together.
