Phinney
based artist Sandy Ruffin will be showing a selection of her project 100
Monotypes. These are bright, graphic prints created with a gelatin plate and
acrylic paint. A wide variety of materials are used to make texture, stencils,
and masks to create layers of paint, forming abstract shapes and vibrant color
juxtapositions. The process is driven by “what would happen if…” – that sense
of trying without knowing the outcome.

Inspired by environment. That environment includes late night bus rides, adventures with the dog, and skating wherever my wheels roll me. If you take a look at my work, you can see how much of a roll music plays in my life. Mostly I just make pictures of things that I see regularly and think are awesome.
Jason SinglerFeatured Artist: Jason SinglerJ has been skateboarding for more than half his life, and started creating art on his griptape during bus rides almost a decade ago to and from school and work. He utilizes pointillism not just because it looks rad to him, but it also makes the markers he uses last longer. He is inspired by his home of Seattle, music, animals, cartoons, and the forever unfolding of life itself.

This is now my second
year doing ArtUp at the Flying Bike and I couldn’t be more thrilled to spend
another evening with everyone. My theme for this series is Creation &
Wonder. All original concepts are ink based pointillism. This year I’ve been
inspired to draw a lot of solar-based pieces with elements of natures
experiences. I’ve tried to capture the geometry in our universe and the beauty
of being a part of it. I’m struck with awe and wonder of our natural world and
am left curious about how life has defied all odds to be what it is today. So
come say hi, grab a pint, and take a look.
