My work explores the existential questions, fears, and themes that have often preoccupied me and that I believe most humans struggle with: decay, transformation, death, memory, and the tension between natural and urban environments.

Featured Artist: Hilary Bowker

Hi! I’m Hilary. Social worker by day, artist by night. And animal lover, always.  I do my best to make sure my supplies are free from animal products! I always loved to draw growing up  but didn’t start painting until my 30th birthday a few years back. I’m just getting to know acrylics and look forward to experimenting with new mediums and techniques! For now, I’m loving metallics and creating surreal pieces with celestial elements. I have the capacity to create some custom paintings and am selling prints of my work. You can buy from me locally or at my Society6 shop.  https://society6.com/celestialbodies

Cunning Crow Apothecary: 9024 Greenwood Ave N
Art Up Site

Featured Artist: Eric Rabena

Earth Chimes are an energetic exploration of, and reverence to, the wisdom, perfection, and impermanence of the earth and all her beauty.

The artist, Eric Rabena, combines earth elements—remnants of trees, animal skulls and horns, and a variety of healing gems and crystals—and binds them together with hemp rope, in a fusion of classical and macramé knots.

Earth Chimes are an extension of Eric’s yoga practice. They are a thoughtful and expansive expression of Conscious Awareness. Eric sculpts pieces that honor the strength, life, and energetic potency of each element. The Earth Chimes pay respect to the healing properties of the trees, animals, and gems. The elements represent the inevitable cycle of all things manifest: creation, sustaining, and eventually, death and reabsorption back into the whole—back into the nothing that holds everything.

All my life, I’ve been captivated by water–especially the sea. These paintings are a reflection of Oceans Above and Below–aerial oceans, from above the waves, as if one were floating right over the water, and cosmic abstracts from other planets, like photography negatives of earthly oceans.

By connecting with the cosmic and most hidden, as well as the very surface of the earth, I hope to show how connected we are with all life on the planet.

Seattle Recreative:  8408 Greenwood Ave N
Art Up Site

Featured Artist: Odette Allen

My work is abstract in nature, using color to create emotion and drama, while the titles of my work serve to focus the emotion and message. I use my background in archival documentation and social activism to fuel artwork about the issues I find most pressing. The ultimate goal of my work is to enable people to broaden their emotional perspective, allowing them to empathize with perspectives they could not previously understand.
