Featured Artist: Tina La Plant
Tina began her artistic life as a theater artist, acting, directing and writing for the stage. She has a Masters in Integrated Art and Education and has been working in Encaustics for 11 years. She was introduced to Encaustic painting (also known as hot wax painting) in 2008, and although she is primarily a self-taught artist, she has taken some group and private lessons while developing her skills. Tina has enjoyed hanging her work in many spaces around the Seattle area including at the following locations: Art Not Terminal Gallery, Central Cinema and the Macrina Café.
Tina’s work hangs in homes as far away as Texas, Arizona and Minneapolis, as well as right here in the greater Seattle area. The 10 works hung in this show are an assemblage of pieces on which she has been working since as early as 2016.

Featured Artist: Dani Gray
Dani Gray is a Seattle-based animal lover and artist focusing on deep-toned, impasto abstracts. While she enjoys working in several mediums (watercolor, encaustic, and acrylic) she prefers to work with oil paints. Dani is influenced by the stunning Pacific Northwest; its craggy beaches, the watercolor gray skies, and its crisp cool climate. Dani feels that a piece of art should be a collaboration between the artist and the collector; this is why many of her pieces are unsigned. She feels that when you purchase a piece of abstract art, you should hang it in the way that most speaks to you. Channeling the intense natural beauty of her surroundings and strong emotion, she invites the viewer to engage with the piece.

artifacts
Old wood, tools, and ephemera have always been fascinating to me. Besides appreciating the inherent beauty in the materials and craftsmanship, I try to imagine the history and stories that are attached to the artifacts. I create assemblages in hopes of elevating the simple cast-off bits of everyday life into a more lasting form.
I grew up in North Dakota where I learned to appreciate hard work, old tools, and the beauty of simple things. I have a BFA with a focus in graphic design, and live in Seattle.
