A SENSE OF PLACE’ Seattle and Western Washington, PNW Lighthouse, The Tropical Pacific and more

Watercolor Artist Sue Taylor has been painting for many years, The ocean light and historic buildings of Cape Cod, Massachusetts first inspired her. She has continued to find new subjects here on the West Coast, Pacific Northwest, Japan, Africa and beyond.  ‘A Sense of Place’ reflects the environment and human interactions in and with that environment, with each location on the surface of the earth a unique PLACE.

Originally showing her work on Cape Cod with the Guild of Chatham Painters, in a summer gallery she co-ran, and other summer shows, she now is enjoying connecting and painting with fellow painters here in the Seattle area. Sue is enjoying exploring the medium of acyclic to depict place.  Still her first and primary love is watercolor as the interplay of water, quality watercolor paper, and watercolor pigments yields an infinite number of ever changing results.

Featured Artist: Jakob Gerstle

Hi, my name is Jakob Gerstle.

I am a 17 year old photographer and am currently enrolled as a senior at spring academy. Ever since I was a small child I have always had strong aspirations steering me towards photography. When I first had access to a camera at the age of 4 or 5, I was instantly enthralled by the idea of composition playing a role of unsurpassed importance in the overlying message and emotion associated with a photograph. I have carried this sort of photographic ideal along with me ever since and kept it ever present in my photos as I’ve progressed in skill and experience with the art. My life goal is to one day join Doctors Without Borders as a medical care administrator and when not working to heal the war-torn and famished civilians of oppressed and devastated countries, begin an avenue of my life as a photo journalist, documenting my experiences in full color frames as to keep them with me and spread awareness of the true, systematic atrocities occurring around the globe on a daily basis.
